Storyboard Basics

Create a STORYBOARD in six easy steps!

1. Use paper or a word processing program as you gather ideas.

2. Imagine each scene as a separate page.

3. Indicate linear sequence of scenes by clearly numbering the pages on the top right.

4. Use the top 1/2 as a "stage" or as the "frame" where you draw the elements to be shot (stick figures are fine. Place images/ multimedia elements/ actors/ product in each scene from the camera's perspective as they are to be shot by your camera person!  (your artistic ability is not graded-- your planning is graded).

5. Indicate details of camera angle and action (From wide cuts to zoom in on-- fades from black to close up-- up angle slowly moves to down angle etc.)/  audio (effects and music)/ actors direction (what should they do when you yell action)/ and screenplay (lines actors should say) in the lower 1/2 of each page. and the techniques you use in a summary written in proper English at the bottom of each page.

6. Identify your target audience age, economic level, and any other relevant characteristics.

7. Each School Day late results in a 10% reduction of grade for this assignment worth 20% of your grade for the quarter.
