Why "The Renaissance?"   I acknowledge the Renaissance as the center of modern western culture. I see that it allows for an openness to and appreciation of Eastern philosophy and thought in its intellectual spirit.

Simply, it acknowledges that there were great thinkers before us even if they didn't speak our language and lived on the other side of the world.

In some ways, it is the process of discovering value in those who have come before us!

The two questions we each should ask ourselves are

  1. What is the spirit of the Renaissance?
  2. And, to what extent, is its opposite (the spirit of the dark ages) a part of our lives today?
