      Alternative assignments (signified by an "Alt" in the work for the week) are only provided for students who legitimately do not have access to the media under study or through direct collaboration with resource teachers: they will be accepted in lieu of other work only when a student, parent, or resource teacher has arranged the substitution with the instructor prior to the due date.

Notes on creating a storyboard--  Project:  Create a storyboard for a "sales pitch" to the class.  Describe a healthy food you chose to advertise to the class and compare it with at least one other food.   The storyboard should be sufficient for a one minute minimum commercial.  Identify each time you use one of the 12 basic advertising techniques.

Working in class on storyboards:  They must include camera direction/ sound direction/ script/  and detailed timings for each new scene:  of course they must include at least five of the12 basic advertising techniques we have studied.  Due Friday 28th

1) What is the difference between a Replicant and a Human?

2) Why is it so important to Decker to point out he has "never killed" anybody?

3) What is the roll of nature in the world of the future?

4)  If discovered you were a Replicant, what would you have done and why?

Extra Credit Assignment:   As we have studied Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, compare and contrast Frankenstein and Blade Runner in a Venn Diagram.

Be Prepared for a notebook test next week in compliance with the following directions:
Each Student must have a separate three ring English notebook with the following sections organized to allow you (and them) to easily follow our progress:
A “Work for the Week” curriculum section— on the first day of every week I post the work for that week detailing a daily summary of class work and homework you can review.
A Spelling and Vocabulary Section—includes spelling and vocabulary designed to prepare the student for standardized tests (SAT, ASVAB, ATC, etc.) as well as college preparation.
A literature or media section—includes notes and criticism of literature and texts we study as part of our class.
A Test and Quiz Section—includes review material, and a record of all tests and quizzes.
A Grammar and Composition Section—this section has to do with your child’s ability to write correctly and with style (the key currency of the universities as well as Regent’s Exams).
No 3 ring binder = 0 No organized sections= F No kidding.

View Harvey (1950) and in your notebook, define a Frankenstein's Monster in your own words and respond to the idea that sometimes the monsters we create don't even have to exist.

Film and TV (Media) Production

For your fourth quarter branding project you are going to “brand yourself” with all associated media in the project rated “G” for subject matter, language, and content.  This project is worth 20% of your grade for this quarter DUE at start of class FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 2006.  Each day late results in the drop of a full letter grade on the project: DO NOT PLACE WORK IN MY MAILBOX.

Begin  The Corporation a film that explores the nature and spectacular rise of the dominant institution of our time. Footage from pop culture, advertising, TV news, and corporate propaganda, illuminates the corporation's grip on our lives. Taking its legal status as a "person" to its logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrist's couch to ask "What kind of person is it?"

Winner of 24 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS, 10 of them AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARDS including the AUDIENCE AWARD for DOCUMENTARY in WORLD CINEMA at the 2004 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL.

Reflect in your notebooks on the definition of A LEGAL "PERSON"  (Check as done r) 

I was four years old (40 now) when I can remember family gathered around the television watching the first Apollo mission to the moon.  Yet today there are people who believe that landing a man on the moon was a hoax.  Respond in your notebook--  do you believe that landing a man on the moon was a hoax? and explain HOW YOU KNOW!
