4th             MONDAY Working in class on storyboards:  They must include camera direction/ sound direction/ script/ for each new scene:  of course they must include at least one of the advertising techniques we have studied.

29th            MONDAY Comparison of stars from Casablanca and The Sea Hawk due today; surprise notebook check this week-- No 3 ring binder = 0         No organized sections= F      No kidding.  Begin viewing The Wizard of OZ; class work --The film is perennially popular because it explores many of the issues and fears that children ages 5 - 12 must confront as they mature... identify as many issues and fears as you are able for each of the main characters due at start of class on Friday 3rd in a children's perspective of the movie; Research Paper-- research and explain how the movie functions as an Allegory about Populism in the U.S. - Late 1800s (worth 20% of grade for quarter)-- use research paper guidelines. Google search with the key words-- wizard of oz bimetallism -- yielded 270 results for me in .28 sec.  Cite your sources properly with the citation machine according to the MLA-- Research Paper is due Monday December 20th. Proper Research format is worth 50% of the grade.

 If you have a video camera available to you for the remainder of the school year, you may choose to create a project this quarter which will tie into the final project.  You may work in groups or alone, if you work in a group you will all be graded together as well as your ability to cooperate in order to determine your final grade.  You must identify the members of your group to me before you begin your project.  For the major project this quarter, you will be retelling a story with a moral lesson "appropriate for a target audience of 10-12 year olds" with a storyboard 33%, and a minimum of one completed sock puppet 33%, and a web page to support your story 33%: the final project for the final quarter will be the filming and grading of the story according to the  "Story Board" presented this quarter.

 If you do not have access to a video camera we will have a stationary camera available for in class shooting --- according to a strict schedule ---  in the last quarter. 

This is a production class.  If you miss a day be prepared to not receive credit or additional time.  No, don't ask.  H.W. Bring a sock.  All projects are due Monday April 4, 2005
