8th WEDNESDAY	Share Smart Goals with class & turn in; Notes on creating a "personal mission statement;" Work on personal mission statement; rough draft due Thursday.

13th MONDAY	Final Draft of Personal Mission Statement is Due. Allusion is a brief reference to a person, event, or place, real or fictitious, or to a work of art, text, or story. Identify Homer and Bart's Personal Missions from what you know about writing personal mission statements after viewing an episode of the Simpson's. In what ways are Homer and Bart's goals SMART or not SMART? Explain their "personal missions" and for each aspect of Homer and Bart's goals identify how SMART they were-- due Monday.
14th TUESDAY	Continue to work on the Simpson's assignment in class.
15th WEDNESDAY	Complete work on Homer and Bart's Personal Missions and SMART GOALS as assigned-- Happy New Year! 22nd WEDNESDAY	Complete reading and create a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the Iroquois creation story with any other story you are familiar.
23rd THURSDAY	HW study for test (Spelling is worth 2pts; Definition is worth 2pts; sentence is worth 1pt.) I will say the word you will spell it define it and put it into a sentence. Venn is due; complete questions at end of "World on a Turtles Back."

13th MONDAY	Reading Chapter 2 of Catcher in the Rye from the perspective of Holden's psychologist/ psychiatrist; take notes in your reading log at the end of each chapter for notebook check!
14th TUESDAY	How to pass the Regents Exam: Part 3 (use the Regents I gave you in class to complete part 2a); blocking and essay are due Friday (see hand numbered page 10).
15th WEDNESDAY	Block part 3 in class and work on your introduction.
16th THURSDAY	Continue to work on the essay; Read through chapter 6 and stop at 7, keep notes on each chapter, for Monday the 20th.

12th TUESDAY	Select any poem or poems from the text book (see page xxvii) that total at least 15 lines in length to memorize and recite to the class. Additionally, explain what you think the poem means to the class. If you choose not to recite the poem you must write a literary analysis of the poem and research the biography of the author in essay form. Use the model for literary analysis. All poems must be approved by the teacher and will be on a "first come first serve" basis. Copy the poem into your notebook.

3rd TUESDAY	Introduction to the Poetry Project due June 1st; detailed notes and work on 10 Haiku; turn in sentences.
4th WEDNESDAY	Work on five Cinquain; use imagery!
5th THURSDAY	Haiku and Cinquain are due
6th FRIDAY	Spelling and vocabulary test unit 10; HW bring your college application essay Monday.

10th TUESDAY	Notes on pattern poems-- Write five different pattern poems (of a minimum of ten lines each) and label each pattern: Due Monday 16th
11th WEDNESDAY	Notes on Free Verse; One poem of 20 lines min due Monday 16th
12th THURSDAY	Meet in 1102 (Computer Lab); Work on Poetry Project; Show me your final draft and then turn it into your guidance counselor; Extra credit-- Write a formal letter requesting a letter of recommendation from a teacher in the school. What Mr. "G" asks HERE
13th FRIDAY	Meet in 1102 (Computer Lab); Type your College application Essay final draft; Work on Poetry Project; Spelling and vocabulary test unit 11; HW -- prepare your notebook for the final exam! Two weeks until Memorial Day weekend!!!! Wow.

WEEK FIVE	ASSIGNMENTS
16th MONDAY	Test on Unit 11 Spelling and Vocabulary (because we had a sub Mon and Tues); Turn in your 20 line free verse poem; Copy Unit 12 Spelling and Vocabulary into notebook. Write sentences that use the words correctly to show their meaning and turn in (if not done complete for Tuesday's HW). HW-- Study five words per night all this week.
17th TUESDAY	Notes on the Sonnet; Create two sonnets; due Friday.
18th WEDNESDAY	Work on Sonnets in class.
19th THURSDAY	Work on Dream poem; Biographical Poem; and Concrete Poem (looks like a painting with words)-- these are due Monday, May 23rd
20th FRIDAY	Test on Unit 12; HW-- begin organizing your 3 ring notebook for the open notebook final exam, as it is an open notebook test this will serve as your review for the entire years work! Go through the work for the week from September through today and make a complete list of assigned reading to turn in Monday! Only one week to Memorial day weekend!
